a date with my special man

it has been a really hectic couple of weeks and even burning weekends ... thus having very little special time with my two little boys ....

today i decided to make it all up!

early morning i brought both boys to the club for iggie's 2nd swimming lesson .... and that was great fun watching him being confident in the waters .... til of course swimming coach decided it was time to "wash his face" ... and that was an exercise to have his head under the water .... that freaked him out and he cried buckets!! ha!! but all in all ... 2nd class went well ... and i do hope besides being freaked out at the last 5 mins ... iggie did enjoy his session .... i know i did! watching him!

afternoon was spent at home with iggie building all his thomas train tracks all over the living room floor ... and that was all work by himself .. he had tunnels and bridges and you wouldnt have imagined all these came from a 4 year old !!!! he has my genes - what can i say..... :P

in the evening - i decided to have some private time with iggie .. and asked him if he wanted to go out with me... and he said "bowling"!!!

so off we went ... and we had a great time!! its not the first time .... and we dont actually go very often ... the last trip was maybe 4 months back ... and i must say... while waiting for our lane ... he watched all the other bowlers and had actually learnt that its not the throwing of ball and running to watch the machine pick up pins ... its the no of pins that got people excited! and this time .. with each ball of his ... he would run back and ask me "how many pins would it hit?".... and i can only reply him "lets watch and see"

and my oh my!! he has "improved" alot!!! for 80% of the frames - he would hit an average of 2-3 pins!! that is based on 4 games and each game having total score of about 30 pins!!! not bad huh!! and there was one that he actually hit all 9 pins!!! one of them with 7 pins and couple of them in 6 pins and 4 pins.... the majority were 1 pin each .... but seriously ... that is not bad for a 4 year old!!!!

after the game, i asked if he was hungry and he replied "yes ... i want pizza"

so its a date!!! me and my little man - went to our fav pizza place at greenwood ave - Pepperoni!!!! and given the time (7.45pm) there werent any seats left... except the bar! so guess what ... me and my little man had our dinner at the bar!!! ordered a carrot soup and a pizza (only cheese and ham) and we had a good time!!! we chatted about everything ... about the day's events ... about the places he love.... and we drew out all the places as we talked!!

you really have to see to believe ... his eyes would shine and go really big and round as he says "shall we draw the tracks with the car at the theme park?! the one with daddy and mummy and iggie?!"

and as i drew and talked - he would chip in on the details and offer to colour the pictures that i drew! and that goes on ... like his big round eyes going brighter and bigger as he asked about the "circle tracks that go round and round ... and its not the raft".... actually til now i still have no idea what he was refering to! hee hee!

and after dinner i piggy backed him to the car ... and he chatted more ... saying "iggie's legs are too tired to move ... except they can swing as mummy carry me..... and my hands are not so tired... i can still move .... and body is not too tired... only my legs...."

and once we got home ... given he hadnt done his daily business yet .. i told him we had to finish that, take shower then go to bed.... guess what did my little man say ..... "by the time iggie finish ta bian ... iggie is sleeping already ..... so we better take a shower and sleep " ...... hahahahahahah.........

and after shower we had to take medicine.. and usually he would have some "san za pian" to go with the chinese medicines... but guess what did he say .... "iggie just take the medicine and water.... if not if iggie take the san za pian .. iggie is sleeping already ....... and iggie has already brushed my teeth ... if not i have to brush again and i would be sleeping already!"

now i am not sure about anyone else ... and i am definitely saying this only from my own experience - i dont think when i was 4 years old i said anything like this ..... this is from my little 4 year old ... who if you cover your eyes and dun hear the young voice would imagine he might be 7 or 8 years old ..... i think...... so in other words ... i am so damm proud of him ..... proud of my special man ...and so thankful i decided to spend a special date with my little special man!!!

Sounds like a fantastic date. I amazed at the little details you have highlighted on your date.... To swimming and dipping his head underwater (which I anticipated will freak him out anyway, so crying was not a surprise), to his creative little mind building endless fixing up his train tracks (i can imagine him describing and talking out loud as he does this, and his every word and sentence would be very surprising for a 4-year old), to his da-bian business (he sure knows how to reason it out with mom now). Beware Mummy, he is going to out-talk you some time!
