how to make a XXX? how to build a XX ? how to???

right... maybe iggie has zoom past the stage or phase of asking "WHY?"

and now he has progressed to asking "HOW?"

for the past week, each car ride with iggie has been quite stressful....

"how to build a house mummy?"

"how to make a brick mummy?"

"how to build a car mummy?"

"how to make glass mummy?"

"how to make the cones mummy?" - these are the orange looking cones on the roads

"how to make the windows mummy?"

"how to build a bendy bus mummy?"

........................hhm mmmm ..................... hhhmmm ...............................

for each of these i really cracked my brain to answer him as simple as possible ... and sometimes when the answers are too simplified - he goes "mummy, why so short?" - meaning why the answer so short....

errrr ...... and up til now, i have not figured out how to make glass .... i promise to find the answer for him and i am sure i will be tested by iggie on our next car ride ... any answers from anyone ?????

i wanna eat ....

its funnie to watch nick nick now ... he is at the stage when he wants to try "EATING" ....

and we have started him on taking some solids since he turned 6 months .... and now at 7 months and 3 weeks .... he is DEMANDING to try more than what he has been given ....

whenever Gong Gong (grandpa) carries him and munch on his snacks (biscuits ... nuts .... etc), our dear nick nick will smile the SWEETEST smile at him .... and his eyes will never leave the food til it disappears into Gong Gong's mouth ....

and whenever iggie is eating his food or fruits ... nick nick will have his eyes only on the edible things ... and starts calling out to anyone who will pass some of those to him .... "ah!......err!..... err! ....err!" and of course he never succeeds.....

recently grandma started giving him some plums ... 1/4 fresh plums without the skin ...... nick nick would be opening his mouth well before grandma has time to mesh up the fruit to feed him! and after finishing his portion, he will be "DEMANDING" for more and cry out loud and throw a tantrum if he doesnt get anymore!

its really funnie to watch ... and you have to carry him away from the table and for the next 10-15mins he will be crying and complaining about how he didnt get to have more...... and you have to try to distract him with other stuff ... but nothing works .....

watching this picture that we took after iggie's swim with his daddy..... while iggie was munching away on the apple .... our little nick nick's eyes never let that apple out of his sight! and kept calling out "err!...err!!.... err!!!"

with arms out trying to reach that apple .... and mouth sucking and imagining the taste of that apple .... little nick nick, you will need to wait your turn .....

but i know ... this little rascal of mine ... will be sneaking off with Gong Gong with his titbits in no time!!!!

are insects animals????

this was a question that was raised during a farewell lunch with some friends this afternoon ....

"Are Insects ANIMALS?"

And i immediately said "NO.... insects are not animals...."

we all had an 1 hour debate about this question and to prove to myself ... i googled it and found the answer .....

ANIMALS has 5 categories:-
  1. Amphibians
  2. Birds
  3. Fish
  4. Insects
  5. Mammals

So .... insects ARE animals .....

did you get that right? or are you wrong like me? ....... :)

cRAzeE mAZe ...

well after a lazy morning, i decided to bring the kids out to play again ....

so into the car we went and i asked iggie where he would like to go ....

"wild wild wet mummy!"

opps ... not dressed or packed for wild wild wet ... so i decided to go to the DRY theme park ....

but alas ... it was packed!! for a small little place ... the rides that iggie could take were about 4 or 5 in total ... but for the ones he really wanted to go on the queues were quite horrible ...

so we played only a few of the ones with shorter queues .. and in 30mins i decided we needed a change and off we went to the CrAZee MegA MaZE ...

and for $6 an hour ... it was an exciting adrenaline filled one hour!

i had to climb in there with iggie (as there were lots of kids and most of them much bigger and older and ROUGHER than he is ...) and goodness me! in 10mins i was panting away trying to catch up! iggie is small in size and can find his way in between the other kids.. while mummy is big and have to get round other kids and small tight places .... it was a tough work out for me!!!!

and 30mins later i had to take a short break!!! i was running out of air, my legs and arms were really aching!! so i got him out for a short 2 mins break .... drank some juice ... and off we went again!!

it was actually very fun even for adults!!

you get to climb up and up and up ... and when there is no further up .. you had to look around and try to look for the hole to get across to the other side and figure your way out to the 2 slides and "wwweeeeee......!!!" ... zoom down the slide which was really fast!!! and tumble your way out and try again via another route ....

iggie had a great time!!! and though the place was jam packed with kids... we played as if we were in a world of our own .... just mummy chasing iggie ... and iggie figuring which was the way he wanted to explore!!

his eyes were bright and round ... darting around looking for the next opening to crawl into .... and he learnt how to climb up through small square openings to the next level .... and tumble out onto lower landings.... and couple of times he would land flat on his face!!! or get his small feet caught between the nets!!!

and each time i caught up with him - he would scream and laugh out loud ... and we both had to sit in a corner to catch our breath! and couple of times he would ask me to wait at one end first while he crawled over, but before he reaches the end i would in 3 crawls get to him and he would get all excited and laugh so hard he cant even move!!!

watching him and his non stop laughter makes me just smile with pride ...

my son is growing up fast .... and soon this old mummy of his wouldnt be his playmate any more .... and i wonder ... how many more years of him wanting me to play with him i still have left ... and knowing in the past each time he asked "mummy can you play with me?" and i had given him answers like "sorry dear mummy is busy .... " or "sorry mummy needs to work now" ..... or "sorry dear mummy is tired .. i rest for a while first?" ..... it makes me really sad ....

sorry iggie ... mummy really wishes she can play with you all the time .... and she will really try to play every time .... and in iggie's words ... "play the whole day ... play too much..... "

hydrated ... vs enough water ....

alright ... while showering iggie today .. he told me "mummy, the tap is hydrated.... "

hmmm ..... i can guess what he was refering to .... but "HYDRATED"..... ????

and i decided to tell him "yes .... you can be dehydrated if you dont have enough water ..."

next came "what does dehydated means mummy?"

.... hmmmm ..... "dehydrated means not enough water iggie .... "

.....silence .....

"oh... so luckily iggie has the tap so iggie is not dehydrated"

....blank look on my face....

"no iggie .. you are hydrated because you drink enough fluids like water and apple juice... your plants needs water to be hydrated and can grow .. iggie too!... but that is not just taking a shower like your plant"

...... "mummy.... the tap is hydrated"

..............silence.............................. "yes iggie ..... that tap has water ... " :)

family picture ... really rare ....

the 2 princes updated ....

the 2 most handsome boys i know .... little nick nick and iggie ....

a date with my special man

it has been a really hectic couple of weeks and even burning weekends ... thus having very little special time with my two little boys ....

today i decided to make it all up!

early morning i brought both boys to the club for iggie's 2nd swimming lesson .... and that was great fun watching him being confident in the waters .... til of course swimming coach decided it was time to "wash his face" ... and that was an exercise to have his head under the water .... that freaked him out and he cried buckets!! ha!! but all in all ... 2nd class went well ... and i do hope besides being freaked out at the last 5 mins ... iggie did enjoy his session .... i know i did! watching him!

afternoon was spent at home with iggie building all his thomas train tracks all over the living room floor ... and that was all work by himself .. he had tunnels and bridges and you wouldnt have imagined all these came from a 4 year old !!!! he has my genes - what can i say..... :P

in the evening - i decided to have some private time with iggie .. and asked him if he wanted to go out with me... and he said "bowling"!!!

so off we went ... and we had a great time!! its not the first time .... and we dont actually go very often ... the last trip was maybe 4 months back ... and i must say... while waiting for our lane ... he watched all the other bowlers and had actually learnt that its not the throwing of ball and running to watch the machine pick up pins ... its the no of pins that got people excited! and this time .. with each ball of his ... he would run back and ask me "how many pins would it hit?".... and i can only reply him "lets watch and see"

and my oh my!! he has "improved" alot!!! for 80% of the frames - he would hit an average of 2-3 pins!! that is based on 4 games and each game having total score of about 30 pins!!! not bad huh!! and there was one that he actually hit all 9 pins!!! one of them with 7 pins and couple of them in 6 pins and 4 pins.... the majority were 1 pin each .... but seriously ... that is not bad for a 4 year old!!!!

after the game, i asked if he was hungry and he replied "yes ... i want pizza"

so its a date!!! me and my little man - went to our fav pizza place at greenwood ave - Pepperoni!!!! and given the time (7.45pm) there werent any seats left... except the bar! so guess what ... me and my little man had our dinner at the bar!!! ordered a carrot soup and a pizza (only cheese and ham) and we had a good time!!! we chatted about everything ... about the day's events ... about the places he love.... and we drew out all the places as we talked!!

you really have to see to believe ... his eyes would shine and go really big and round as he says "shall we draw the tracks with the car at the theme park?! the one with daddy and mummy and iggie?!"

and as i drew and talked - he would chip in on the details and offer to colour the pictures that i drew! and that goes on ... like his big round eyes going brighter and bigger as he asked about the "circle tracks that go round and round ... and its not the raft".... actually til now i still have no idea what he was refering to! hee hee!

and after dinner i piggy backed him to the car ... and he chatted more ... saying "iggie's legs are too tired to move ... except they can swing as mummy carry me..... and my hands are not so tired... i can still move .... and body is not too tired... only my legs...."

and once we got home ... given he hadnt done his daily business yet .. i told him we had to finish that, take shower then go to bed.... guess what did my little man say ..... "by the time iggie finish ta bian ... iggie is sleeping already ..... so we better take a shower and sleep " ...... hahahahahahah.........

and after shower we had to take medicine.. and usually he would have some "san za pian" to go with the chinese medicines... but guess what did he say .... "iggie just take the medicine and water.... if not if iggie take the san za pian .. iggie is sleeping already ....... and iggie has already brushed my teeth ... if not i have to brush again and i would be sleeping already!"

now i am not sure about anyone else ... and i am definitely saying this only from my own experience - i dont think when i was 4 years old i said anything like this ..... this is from my little 4 year old ... who if you cover your eyes and dun hear the young voice would imagine he might be 7 or 8 years old ..... i think...... so in other words ... i am so damm proud of him ..... proud of my special man ...and so thankful i decided to spend a special date with my little special man!!!

long awaited pictures ... ... (part 1)

right ... i know i know ... so far no pictures of both the princes.... i finally got down to downloading the pictures from the camera ....

here's iggie at Sentosa Beach on his birthday .... look how much he has grown!!! though this outfit seems to be the SAME one every time we get to the beach ... he has definitely grown into it!!! in height .... lost the weight on the waist ...so now the top is not so stretched!!! ha ha ha!

this one is iggie at the water feature in Sentosa ... he loved the water spouts and had so much fun standing over the openings ... covering these openings with the plastic plane and watch them fly .... guessing which opening the water would come out first ..... :)

this is iggie waiting for the Sentosa Express to come ... we waited for 4 trains to come and go before realising the GREEN Sentosa Express was under service and was not in operation that day!!! sigh .... the silly mummy and iggie had waited for s..o... l..o..n..g.. for a train that was never coming!!! we would have just stood there forever if not for the nice train driver who signalled to us to hop on the train ... signed to him we wanted the GREEN train and he looked at us in SHOCK and smiled and said "No Green Train today" ..... !!!

9th July 2007 - Chinotown, Singapore

Chinotown has been in a State of Emergency since early Saturday morning and the situation does not seem to be improving. Members of Chinotown has been on the lookout for a conlady who appeared in Chinotown disguised as a friend on 3 Chinotown members.

The lady has been a long time fren of the members and they were engaged in a FRENLY game of Mahjong last Friday. Mahjong is seen as a frenly recreation game in Chinotown.

However last Friday, this lady took advantage of the fact that one member was half drunk, another half asleep struggling to keep his eyes open and the other...well erm...trying to entertain his pet dog and stunned the members with some unfrenly and amazing 'hus'. These 3 members were still trying to come to terms with their losses in the wee early hours of Saturday morning and have vowed to take revenge.

More reports to follow...
I AM YOUR DADDY...

Yes...Nick is at the age where he starts to recognise people. And he certainly has difficulty in recognising me. So I had to put in extra work to coo him up this trip. He stared at my in his big round eyes...and then...turned away. Well, many more times later, he started to smile at me, before turning away... So I decided to use secret weapon...which is his wet and yummie bolster to play with him. HA...works all the time. Just have to watch which end of the bolster you handle...cos invariably, they are both wet, but one would be wetter than the other... HAHAHAHA... and I love it!

One thing I know...that (he responded postively to me) only lasted for that moment (of the game). Next trip, I will have to start from scratch again. Nick, I AM YOUR DADDY!...
I have no idea why I cannot edit the title block - so no title...

My dear wife went to meet the (Iggie's) teacher last Tuesday. And oh am I proud of Iggie. No I am not about to blow my trumpet in this post...but just write down this wonderful moment that MOM told me.

After meeting the teachers, MOM needed to go to work. So she wanted to hug and kiss Iggie...before she headed for work. BUT Iggie only kissed MOM...And "WHY?"...Iggie said, " Cos my hands are dirty. I touched Grandma's carplate, so I do not want to make you dirty..."
One week without talking to Iggie. Since returning to HK, I have been wanting to write another post, but simply could not bring myself to. Reason is...I actually have not been able to speak with Iggie and Nick for a week. My dearie wife is working her butts off (although now she has a uPapa to massage her butt:p), and so she hasn't been able to return home at sane hours. Even over the last weekend, I missed the opportunity to speak (with the boys), as Iggie has actually changed his sleeping habits! Now he does not take his naps, and goes to bed early.

But here's some Iggie and Nick events to record into this blog, which will go down to history...and for Iggie and Nick to read when you grow up.

I had such wonderful time in my last trip back. Yes, carworkshop was one of them, but there were so many more. The laughters we had when we visited WildWildWet...as a family (okie less Nick, cos what can he do there rite??? Nick, as GeGe will say...you are still young, when you are FOOUUUR years old, the we bring you here). Well you see the last time I brought Iggie to WWW, he was happily playing, before he suddenly broke down and cried for MUMMIE???? I mean...hey...open your eyes, Daddy is in front of you...After much prompting, I finally found out that our dear Iggie is growing up so much. He missed Daddy and Mummie, playing with him, together!!! So this time round, we went WWW and went to the Pines to swim, together. His smile is just so angelic. And I can't desribe his laughter as he came down the OhhLaLa (or whatever the name, basically the highest slide in WWE) waterslide...it was just pure happiness. So infectious that our fellow passengers in the tube also broke into laughter!!! Well too bad the pictures were taken on FILMS (yes...KODAK file. ISO 200 type...remember!!!)...not digital...so will take a while before you see some handsome shots.

So when I had to say "bye bye" to Iggie on Monday, when he had to go to the Chinese physician...I could not really hold up my tears. And Iggie asked:" Daddy...you are going back to HK??? Hmmm...can you come back from HK tomorrow?" ARRRgggHHHhhGGhhhGHhhh (what can I say)..."Iggie, Dad will be back in ten days time okie...you count ten days...."

So back in HK - I went to the net, and purchased a ticket straightaway...so four more days...Iggie and Nick...I will see you and have lots of fun again!!! Love Dad.

Iggie in the car workshop

"Why was the car lift up?" ....this is the question that Iggie asked when we entered the workshop. So now we sit in the waiting lounge for our car to be serviced..and Iggie wants to tell everyone about the workshop. Now Iggie is speaking...

"What is the ramp for? What are you doing Daddy? Iggie has a sports car. And a racign track. In Alaska. I have a workshop in Alaska. I need a workshop becuase I need to send my car for service."

What do you have in the workshop, Iggie?

"I have...er....ramps! and I have...a pool table with all the balls. And there are Lego sets...and they are for Iggie..."
